Cupping therapy is a medical technique in which small bell shaped glass cups or bamboo cups are placed on the skin via vacuum suction.
The suction effect is created when a small flame warms the cup before placing it on the skin. This action of suction stimulates blood and lymph flow, improving circulation, relaxing muscles and reduces inflammation. It can be used to treat musculoskeletal conditions such as back, shoulder or neck pain, frozen shoulder, muscle tightness or tension.
Cupping can be used along side acupuncture for certain conditions but can be used as a stand alone treatment also if clients prefer not to have acupuncture. It can sometimes leave temporary circular marks or bruising on the skin. This is normal and not painful.
